Cindy: 300,000 vertical feet and 35 ski days

Charlie: 130,000 vertical feet and 24 ski days

A Family Visit and Ski Season Closing

Doug and Beverly picked a great time to visit us for a week, with a mix of warm, sunny days and a couple snowstorms.  Cindy was able to get a week off from work to enjoy spending  time with them.

Things have become quiet around Breckenridge as we approach the last ski day on 4/22 and the start of “mud season”.  The trails have been mostly empty, so we’ve felt more comfortable letting Charlie ski without the harness.  The unorthodox method of ski instruction seemed to work for Cindy in 2006 and Charlie in 2018.  The method could be summarized as “Skip the green runs, head up to the uppermost blue run and go for it.”

Cindy’s remaining days of work at the Living Room are underway with the restaurant closing the same day as the mountain.  We plan to hang out in Breckenridge for 2 more weeks before a 7-day road trip to visit Glenwood Springs and Colorado Springs.  Afterwards we’ll fly to Chicago to spend a few weeks with family and celebrate Charlie’s 4th birthday in late May.

After this weekend’s snowstorm, the weather should be warming up and we look forward to getting out for some hiking and fishing around the area.

Spring Powder

Snow forecast was looking good this weekend, but the Friday night snowfall blew out the forecast.  14″ of fresh but a bit heavy with temperatures higher due to all the moisture from another Pineapple Express.

Dropped Charlie off at the daycare at 8:30 and Cindy and I headed out to the slopes.  A rough start to the day with the Peak 8 Superconnect starting late due to digging out of the unplanned snow amount, but it all worked out.

Made our way across to peak 7 and slid across on Wanderlust to check on the peak 6 lift status.  Just as we arrived, the lift was opening. It was us and about 10 other people for the first 3 chairs working out the thighs in some truly thick powder.  A great half-day of skiing!!
