Shenandoah and a hotel room in Charlottesville, VA

Made our way thru a number of states on some county and state highways. Much nicer and more relaxing drives on those roads rather than interstates. Drove about 30 miles thru Shenandoah National Forest, what a spectacular view! Stopped midway for a short hike to some nice overlooks. Now We can both say we have hiked part of the Appalachian Trail, though Cindy had already hiked some of it previously. Grand finale of the drive was seeing a black bear crossing the road, but couldn’t take a picture quick enough before it disappeared back in the forest.

Found a hotel deal on Hotwire for downtown Charlottesville so we decided to clean up and sleep in a real bed after 3 nights of camping. We enjoyed a nice dinner nearby, then headed to Miller’s Downtown for a beer (it’s the bar Dave Matthews worked at prior to starting Cindy’ favorite band).

Everyone enjoyed some good sleep! Back on the road today, gotta keep movin to get back to cocoa beach on Friday. Currently planning on stopping at a campground just west of abermarle, NC.
